SONOS

Any good host/hostess knows that to make a good party good, you need to add a little musica!  I can't tell you how many dinner parties, cocktail hours, or house parties I've been to where it has been super awkard simply because of the lack of music!  My parents, being expert hosts, know that music is essential to a good vibe.  Otherwise shit might sound like a library...

For us, and my hubby being who he is, he did a ton of research last summer when we decided to buy a sound system.  The hype is all about bluetooth, but we really wanted a wireless system running on WiFi because bluetooth drains your batteries!  We discovered Sonos.  Behold, my lovelies

Yea.  This baby has a super easy to use interface that works on just about any device.  You download an app and that's how you control ALL the speakers.  Only you can choose to adjust one speaker, and leave the others, or you can group them and adjust all the speakers.  You can play music from one thing in one room, and have a totally different vibe in another room.  For example, hubs likes to play Spanish hard rock sometimes, and I like to play Jack Johnson.  Here's another awesome point:  he has a Samsung phone, and I have an iPhone.  We can literally control everything through our different phones with all the same app.

Guaranteed to make any cocktail party a success!

Mixie-Mix for Saturday Night

Twas a Saturday night...  And I had nothing to do!  Actually that is almost never true--living abroad, the community is ALWAYS having some kind of party.  Ex-Pats like to party and entertain!

Originally, I had a plan to create this baby but... I'll be honest here folks...the only champagne I have is a little o' my friend Dom Perignon... and I'm just not ready to pop that baby open!  SO...I made my own concoction which basically turned out to be a glorified gin and tonic...(like I said before...you just can't go wrong with a G&T!)

You'll need:
1.  an awesome flamingo glass from Ikea
2.  ice
3.  Grey Goose
4.  Bombay Sapphire
5.  tonic water
6.  basil leaves
7.  cucumber
8.  a dash of apple juise
9.  limes...if you want.

Mixie-mix the liquor, tonic, and apple juice.  Crush the basil leaves and lime (if you want it...).  Throw in the cucumber and jab it a little with a spoon.  VOILA´!

I used English Cucumbers because I find the normal cucumbers to be pretty bitter, here at least.  You may want to try those bad boys too, they are super refreshing and not bitter.

cheers!

Classic G&T

There ain't nothin better than a Gin and Tonic, folks!  So simple yet so refreshing!

Living in hot climates, a nice cold and refreshing drink like this does wonders for a Friday evening on the roof!

The classic G&T

ice|gin|tonic|limes

Of course, I recommend Bombay Sapphire-- I firmly believe this makes the BEST G&T...though I have tried it with Tanqueray and it was okay.  I'm a bit of a gin snob...

cheers!

Terrible Blogger!

At this time, I must confess that I am terrible blogger.  Sort of.  I am an avid reader of lots of blogs, but I am godawful at keeping my own blogs up to date.  I get busy.  Shit gets in the way.  I forget and I don't have time to blog.  So now I am setting realistic and achievable goals in relation to blogging.

Goals:
1.  Blog 3 times a week.
-I will achieve this by setting a reminder on my phone.
2.  Create a blogging community.
     -  After I have a good amount of posts I will find like-minded drinkin' souls and comment and communicate with them.

That's enough for now.  Don't want to get too lofty.

I do live in India...in a pretty conservative area so it may be hard to get some drinky drinks here, though I solemnly promise to do my best!

Look at that.  Only two more posts to do this week!  Let's hear it for achievable goals!!

cheers!
